Abstract
This work tries to establish a generic mark of performance in aquatic activities. Considering the term “swimming” as insufficient to all the diversity of activities that exist in the aquatic medium, we propose a multiple classification of organisation in sporting aquatic activities and aquatic activities in general: maintenance-training, health, therapy and recreation. But, before the development of these ranges of performance, we propose a basic knowledge of the aquatic medium on the part of the child through programmes of educative aquatic activities. This proposal has support in the use of games and has its teaching base in a comprehensive model that uses a modified sporting game to achieve its objectives.
