Abstract
This work presents the results and conclusions of an investigative work carried out from 1998 to 1999. This work was achieved thanks to a study licence provided by the Education Department of the Generalitat of Catalunya (DOGC 2622, 20.04.1998) The work consists in investigating, in different secondary schools in Barcelona, how the students of ESO with physical and sensory handicaps, were taught, within the field of physical education. We visited different centres where there were handicapped students, interviewing the physical education teachers and the students themselves so that they could give their own opinions about this problem. Following this, we had a series of conversations with eight specialists in adapted physical activities and integration. Finally, we made a series of proposals to try to solve the problems that exist when a handicapped student joins an ordinary centre and, in particular, within the field of physical education.
