Abstract

We studied 9 women gymnasts of international level, between the ages of 12 and 14 (table 1), with an average of 5 hours a day of training. The tests given were adapted to the protocols described by Bosco et al. [Bosco, Komi, Ito, 1981; 1982; Bosco, Luhtanen, Komi, 1983; Komi, Bosco, 19781: Squat Jump (Si), Counter- Movement Jump (CMJ) Abalakov (ABK), Squat Jump with increasing loads of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of body weight (Si 100), Drop Jump (DJ) at 5 heights (20,40,60,80 and 100 cm) and Reactive Strength for 5 s (FR5). We compared the development of the values of the jump and the strength components between the everyday phase and that of specific physical preparation. In the control phase we did not find significative changes (p>.05) in the parameters used (TV, power and strength components). The improvements obtained after the phase of specific physical preparation increased in proportion to the increase in the Ss1 weight and the height of the DJ fall: The contractile (CC) and the reflex (CR) components increased significantly (p
