Abstract

Research field, has also been achieved by triathlon as a transgressor and innovator sport, since it is difficult to find studies concerning sociology and social psychology areas established between an elementary and a comprehensive explanation, on which our research is focused. Most of studies regarding triathlon deal with physiology and anthropometric aspects. However, concerning sport success other significant factors are involved, such as sportsmen devotion and commitment ability, as well as the influences around them, that is to say, the “close environment” which is covered in the sport system core by a concentric spheres conception. Therefore, we are focused on a microsystem level. Our aim is to open a new line in order to offer information about the Spanish triathletes population, who they are and what their interests and motivations are. Our purpose in this research is to improve the system starting from an empirical bases builded taking into account triathletes’ real needs. Finally a triathlete’s sociodemographic profile has been determined from the analyzed sample.
