The origins of cycling in Spain: velocipedic expansion of late XIX century

Abstract
Along the XIX century takes place the gradual configuration of the bicycle that culminates in the last decade, originating in the entire world kind of a boom or madness. This raving for the bicycle must understand each other in the context of a sport movement that travels the advanced countries at the end of the XIX century. In this article it is analyzed how Spain lived its special boom cyclist. The cycling causes an extraordinary activity with the organization of societies, races and tourism or the edition of specialized magazines, that locate it prosumably to the head of a weak Spanish sport movement. This weakness will have to relate it with the difficulties of modernization of the country.
