Abstract

The assessment of the physical condition of school population through field tests is a widely studied topic in the field of health sciences and sport. However, very little is known about what kind of evidence can be considered as the most useful one in the context of the second cycle of primary education (3-6 years). This literature review aims to provide information about the field test considered more desirable to assess the physical condition in children in preschool, based on the study of its psychometric properties, ease and simplicity of implementation, need for material resources and chances of locating and guiding values which show the assessed level of competence. The results suggest that, although there are different tests for each component of physical fitness, there are few tests that meet all the above requirements.
