Abstract

The aim of this research is to draw up and implement an educational aquatic programme for severely handicapped pupils at a special education centre in order to provide an educational resource that can contribute towards their global education and at the same time evaluate its benefits. This study has been carried out because of the lack of research and practical experience that connect water as a learning medium with severely disabled people. We have worked with a total of two Angelman Syndrome participants aged between 11 and 13. The information has been compiled from interviews with professionals, video recordings of the sessions, and log sheets. The results show that the aquatic medium can contribute towards the physical development of the participants.
