Abstract
The benefits of physical activity on health is quite clear What the Western world is actually faced with is the challenge of initiating inactive people to physical activity and maintaining the level of those already active. In this publication a revision is made of the literature about the persistence of change in the conduct in relation to physical activity. The article focuses on the application to physical activity of learning techniques and conduct, of cognitive-social
theories, of the concept of auto-motivation, as well as the theory of social learning.
Also, the individual touch in improving the
compliance with a health programme is emphasised, considering the involvement in exercise as a dynamic fact.
