Abstract
The presence of sodium and potassium in their appropriate concentrations within the body represents a key point in the maintenance of the osmotic balance in the organism. During exercise, the production of important amounts of sweat, together with the variety in nutritional intake, can lead to antagonistic responses with regard to serum levels of these two ions. The aim of this articles to establish serum variations in these two electrolytes during exercise, as well as their consume by sportsmen and woman, especially in the form of hydroelectrolithic drinks.
