Abstract

The objective of this study was to measure the oxygen uptake directly for telemetry in real situation of game calculating the corresponding energy expense and to compare this values with the obtained ones by means of the relationship among the heart frequency and the oxygen uptake settled down in a progressive test in rolling tape in laboratory. They participated in the study a total of seven players (n = 7), chosen by game lines: three forward, two halves and two defenders. The seven players have been international sub-21 and four of them also with the absolute national selection. The stocking of power consumption of obtained oxygen in the sample of players was of 4,339 L · min-1 (56,9 mL · kg-1 · min-1). Significant differences were not observed among the three tactical positions. A high correlation exists among the values of heart frequency and of oxygen uptake in the tests of progressive effort on rolling tape in laboratory r = 0,97 and r = 0,99. During the official competition, the heart frequency remained a stocking of 50 % of the time of game below the aerobic ventilatorio threshold and 43 % of the time in the area of transition aerobic-anaerobic. The half oxygen uptake during the parts of a party of official competition was of 3,591  L · min-1 corresponding to a relative consumption of 48,5 mL · kg-1 · min-1 (70,7% of the individual VO2max). In the analysis of the study of lineal correlation among actual values and estimated of oxygen uptake in each one of the players the calculated correlation coefficients of Pearson were between the values of r = 0,721 and r = 0,904. The quantification of the overestimation throws values of 853 stocking mL · min-1 (34 % overestimation on the real VO2), being the standard error of the estimate (378 mL · min-1) of 15% on the real VO2; with a confidence limit of 95 %, this differences among the real and estimated consumption are calculated between 812 and 893 mL · min-1 (P > 0,001). The specific estimation revealed a bigger correlation among the real and estimated oxygen uptake (r = 0,85) and a half difference of 4 mL · min-1 (sd = 537), being the standard error of the estimation (250 mL · min-1) of 10% on the real oxygen uptake.
