Abstract
“Stage Combat”: This paper deals with the artistic interpretation of violence performed by actors, aimed to entertain the audience and to send a humanistic message through a choreographed ritual. The study presents a twofold classification: agonist / antagonist; conducting an historical tour of artistic representation of stage combat through different stages and diverse cultures. It tackles the artistic preparation of the performer and the choreographer and foresees the future perspectives of this artistic discipline. This work was written by Pawel Rouba Billewicz (Inowroclaw, Polonia. 1939-Barcelona 2007), Stage Director, Choreographer, Performer, Fencing Master, Master of Gesture and Pantomime and Lecturer at INEF of Catalonia. This unedited article is published posthumously by Apunts. Educació Física i Esports to pay tribute to the author for this outstanding and versatile contribution to the fields of Art, Sport and Physical Activity.
