Abstract
Often sport, especially of the last years has been justified by various social actors as an integration tool with exceptional possibilities, as well as being an important element of interculturality. Without a shadow of doubt, as a social element that it is, sport forms part of a mental picture built around a collective “us”, and therefore, being a defining element of identity, also susceptible to become an instrument of integration. Another problem would be to know what we understand by integration and, on the other hand what are the mechanisms by which sport can be used as an element/instrument in this integration. In this article we try to analyse some of these questions surrounding sport and immigration, from different perspectives.
