Abstract
The article analyses sport organisations as a “political arena”. According to this concept, an organisation is a specific social place where persons are involved in complicated and changing relationships of cooperation and conflict, in a symbolic and material play built up on a base of expectations, beliefs and strategies. To illustrate the operating capacity of the concept the article: 1) analyses the main theories regarding the study of the organisations; 2) develops its theoretical dimensions; and 3) takes into account some empirical researches.
