Spanish Physical Activity and Sports Science Research Journals: Proposal for Action
Javier Olivera Betrán
Abstract
In the midst of the knowledge society, scientific journals are undergoing enormous changes that are taking place in a highly competitive environment. There is a pressing need to devise a strategic plan to enhance Spanish physical activity and sports science journals in order to adapt them to changing times. In response to this challenge, we have studied the universe of Spanish scientific journals in our academic and professional sphere through a combination of an examination of the network of external and internal figures that influence this area of publishing (stakeholders) and SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Threats and Opportunities) analysis. Using our portrait of the current situation and of the future prospects that can be glimpsed, we set out the basic governing principles of action designed to improve the sector.
