Abstract
In this paper, an analysis of the body conception of sport and physical recreation is developed. The analysis begins with the subjective dimension of leisure, as well as the meaning of physical-sports recreation and body conception in postmodern societies. In this way, the analysis distinguishes two basic body conceptions: ‘body as product’and ‘body as experience’, which lead towards two perspectives of physical-sports recreation: utilitarian and emancipative. This work questions the role of the professionals in view of sport and physical recreation as an incipient labour market.
