Physical condition as health indicator in the therapy of drug-dependants

Abstract
Few studies have investigated the physical fitness of adults with substance abuse problems. The purpose of this study were to describe the physical fitness of adults with drug abuse. The results of our study show that individuals with drug abuse demonstrated a low level of physical fitness. Summarising, we have tested the research precariousness dealing with the physical fitness of drug abusers. This makes us feel obliged to vindicate the importance of this aspects as therapeutic indicators, and to remind us of the necessity to promote interdisciplinary work focused on the individual´s physical health. This information has proven to be important in developing our understanding of the health-related fitness of individuals with drug abuse, as well as determining which physical capacities that should be improved in the adapted physical activity programs.
