Abstract

This research seeks to examine inequality and differences due to social condition in the weekly physical activity
of senior citizens in Spain. The quantitative methodology used has consisted of a structured questionnaire given to a
random sample of people aged 65 or older in Spain. The findings show that, as in other socio-demographic groups, the social condition of senior citizens is a differentiating factor leading to inequality. This inequality is accompanied by a number of differences in taking physical exercise based on social condition, which may well form specific cultures for people in each of the groups.
