Abstract
The growing demand for the recreative use of rivers and specially water sports, be they competition or active tourism, calls for a reasoned reply geared to the necessities of river waterways. The Hydrographical Confederations, as managers of the recourse “water” ought to co-ordinate the different demands for the use of this recourse from a base of reasonable requests of the different users. In this work we present for the first time in Spain a methodology adapted to the necessities of this type of recreative uses. This methodology is based in the estimation of some dimensions of use that evaluate the capacities of the flow of the rivers, applying an informatic programme that allows us to calculate the optimal and minimal flows for recreative use by simulation of the 2 hydraulical conditions of the course under the supposed different circulating flows of the same.
