Abstract

The serve is the first volleyball team’s attack. At high performance levels, as well as at lower categories the serve can ease the achievement of favorable points. This is so specially if the jump serve, also known as power serve, is used. A different way of performing this serve is suggested: jumping on one foot only, and impacting the ball lifting it counter-clockwise. Mechanical characteristics like a shorter flight time due to a closer to the net ball’s impact, a similar to the normal jump serve horizontal velocity, and a less predictable bounce on the arm’s defense, make this serve a similar yet a best first team’s attack.
