Abstract
It is argued that the university centers of physical activity and sports have three main challenges or goals. The first one is to assume a multidisciplinary approach to that subject and also assume the technological orientation of the studies that they offer. The second is to distinguish between Physical Education and Health Education and continue focusing their attention on the former, even when accepting that both are complementary. The third goal of those centers consists in offering professional teaching centered on physical education and sport training, but also to offer other professional curricula, coordinately with other sciences and technologies, in other to satisfy the needs created by the development of physical activities and sports in our society.
