Abstract

In this work we analyse the problems in the sport practice and, particularly, the conditioned anxiety problems. In this way, we present the interdisciplinary –doctor and psychologist– treatment of a phobic problem related with internal physical stress signals in a young athlete. We used a combined assessment methodology with “functional analyse behaviour” and medicine tests like cardiology and respiratory tests in quite and in effort situations. We designed and applied a treatment using in vivo graduated exposure technique, auto-instructional technique and arousal control techniques. Treatment was effective and after 13 interventions, during 24 weeks, the athlete developed a normal life and a normal sport activity. After 9 months this results were maintained.
