Abstract
Skateboarding has gained great popularity in the past few decades and has recently been declared an Olympic sport for Tokyo 2020. Although attempts to describe the most common injuries in this sport have been made, there is consensus on the need of a tool for the standardized collection of sport habits and skateboarding injury data from skateboarders. The purpose of this study was to create and validate the “Questionnaire of Sport Habits and Injury Record in Skateboarding” through the 3-round modified Delphi method. The steering group was assembled by the authors of the present study. A panel of 20 experts meeting the following criteria was gathered: Sport and Exercise Science graduates with experience in completing original research using questionnaires or previous participation in questionnaire validation studies; and/or skateboarding coaches or professional skateboarders with more than 10 years of experience. The steering group designed a first
questionnaire that was reviewed, modified and rated using a Likert scale (1 to 5) by the experts in each round. Items were excluded when the median of the experts’ scores was lower than 3. Consensus was reached after the completion of the 3 rounds. The accepted 15 items that form the questionnaire are grouped into the following dimensions: Personal Data, Sport Habits, Skateboarding Practice Habits and Injury Record.
