Abstract
In the context of spectacular sport, the figure of the idol appears as the central point or onphalon of a system that brings together different human groups. The life route of an idol, through a fixed cycle with a series of landmarks has been studied in some paradigmatical examples. Attaining the status of idol gives access to many privileges; but at the same time it imposes some behaviour patterns with undoubted popular acceptance, as models to follow.
