Abstract
Introduction. The purpose of the study was to observe how anthropometric and physical fitness variables evolve in a population of Colombian soccer players by age and level of competition and to study the relationship between these variables. Method. Body mass, height, body fat, trochanteric height, explosive strength, agility and speed were evaluated in 335 soccer players (n = 180) belonging to clubs in the first national division and (n = 155) the first regional division. Results. Body mass, height and trochanteric height exhibit significant correlations (p < 0.05, p < 0.001) with agility, CMJ and SQJ. Significant differences (p < 0.05) in body composition variables and conditioning capacities according to the level of competition were identified. As to the position of play significant differences (p < 0.05) were identified in body composition.
