Abstract

In 2007 perceptions and beliefs of judges and officials of Spanish regattas regarding its role and activity were studied for the first time. From this information, the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation started a series of training activities and studies to delve into the factors affecting the performance of this group. In this study, this paper presents the results on the emotional profile during the racing experience. The data provided by the 190 judges and officials (which constituted almost the total population of the group at the time of the study) has led some of its work topics to be re-assessed. They have also provided information to develop psychological intervention programs that enable them to better cope with their tasks during the competition.
