We assessed the laterality phenotype of each child (homogeneous, crossed, or not defined), and we compared the results by gender and age (6-7, 8-10, and 11-15 years). Finally, we correlated the tests by comparing the laterality coefficients. According to our study, gender does not influence the laterality of the arms, but it does affect the legs and eyes. Handedness is set between 8-10 years, footedness is not set at this age and eye laterality tends to dextrality in girls until 15 years of age, but in boys eye laterality is set by 8-10 years. Age seems to be an influencing factor in laterality phenotypes as we observed a significant increase in homogeneous laterality at the cost of decreased cross-laterality in the ages assessed, but gender did not appear to be an influencing factor.
