An Attempt to Legitimise an Institutional and Doctrinal Space for Physical Education in the Second Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abstract<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>At the time of the Second Spanish Republic (1931-1939), some of the major institutions of physical education and&nbsp;sport still to be found today in Catalonia were founded. This institutionalisation was spurred by the Academy of Physical&nbsp;Education of Catalonia, the subject of this study. Based on primary document sources and other parallel studies, we examine&nbsp;the relevance of this body and its influence on providing Catalan physical education and sport projects with democratic,&nbsp;academic, professional, scientific and national representation. Under the forced circumstances of the Second Republic, the&nbsp;Academy of Physical Education of Catalonia meant a professional and technical contribution for the country that rose above&nbsp;ideological and political rivalries.
