To do this we used a self-administered questionnaire for a sample of 146 climbers (89 men and&nbsp;57 women) aged 18 to 54 (mean = 31.24 \u00b1&nbsp;6.96 years). The results showed that the main reasons chosen by climbers were&nbsp;intrinsic, the most important being contact with nature, the search for adventure, a personal challenge and fun. Among the&nbsp;least mentioned reasons were image enhancement, competition and social recognition.
