To describe acceleration capacity in relation to performance (time over a 30 m sprint), maximum speed and muscle strength (jumping ability) and power (half-squat) in 4 women athletes specialising in sprint events at the national level. <em>Methods<\/em>. There were two days of testing (track and laboratory). We evaluated acceleration ability (instantaneous speed at 1, 2 and 3 s (<em>v<sub>i1<\/sub>, v<sub>i2<\/sub> i v<sub>i3<\/sub><\/em>)), initial acceleration (<em>a<sub>inicial<\/sub><\/em>), 30 m sprint time (performance), maximum speed (<em>v<sub>max<\/sub><\/em>), jumping ability (SJ, CMJ, LJ bw and RJ 5s) and maximum average power (<em>P<sub>m<\/sub> max<\/em>) in a half-squat. <em>Results<\/em>. Significant correlations were found between performance (<em>t<sub>30m<\/sub><\/em>) and <em>v<\/em><sub><em>max<\/em> <\/sub>(<em>r<\/em>=-0.980; <em>P<\/em>&lt;0.01), acceleration ability (instantaneous speed) and t30m (<em>r<\/em>=-0.954; <em>P<\/em>&lt;0.05) and <em>v<\/em><sub><em>max<\/em> <\/sub>(<em>r<\/em>=0.992 and 0.979; P30m (<em>r<\/em>=-0.983; <em>P<\/em>&lt;0.05) and maximum relative dynamic strength and ainitial (<em>r<\/em>=0.980; <em>P<\/em>&lt;0.01). Conclusions. The main finding of this study is that vmax was the major determinant of <em>t<sub>30m<\/sub><\/em>.
