Its ephemeral existence served to provide a large number of Secondary School with a qualified Gymnastics teachers. The Central School incorporated into its teaching the gymnastic tendencies of the era, from the gymnastics of Amor\u00f3s to military gymnastics, including Swedish gymnastics and English sports. The School began to operate four years after passing of the Act wich created it, and was provisionally housed on the ground floor of a building with limited space.
