Starting with the conceptual model which classifies the skills of sportspeople depending on the environment with which they interact, the aims to be achieved and the instruments used, we focused on the learning and teaching of basic roller skating skills. At a basic skill level, balance in the environment proves essential although roller skates themselves add variability to the interaction with the environment. Because of this, acquiring a good command of the skills involved in roller skating requires a long training period. In an effort to get closer to fully understanding the learning of such skills, we interviewed skaters and skating coaches with experience of figure skating and hockey. From these experts\u2019 opinions, a number of guidelines on the effective teaching of roller-skating skills can be established.<\/p>\n\n
