{"id":12491,"date":"2020-10-27T11:47:18","date_gmt":"2020-10-27T11:47:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/revista-apunts.com\/?p=12491"},"modified":"2020-12-07T13:03:13","modified_gmt":"2020-12-07T13:03:13","slug":"sport-communication-media-and-the-culture-of-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/revista-apunts.com\/en\/sport-communication-media-and-the-culture-of-peace\/","title":{"rendered":"Sport, communication media, and the culture of peace"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abstract<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"journal-abstract\">This essay first reviews the prospects of the media as a promoter of peace.\u00a0 It highlights what some scholars suggest might be attributes of \u2018discursive spaces\u2019 within the media that are more conducive to the development of a culture of peace.\u00a0 Next, these attributes are shown to be present in mediated sports and, as such, open the possibility that the media might promote peace through sports.\u00a0 Finally, five specific media role \u2013framing, humanizing, ritualization, conferring status, and creating a mood\u2013 taken from the literature of peace advocacy regarding the media, are applied to the case of sports programming.
