This number of the magazine, as you can see, is a monograph number dedicated to the topic of Vision and Sport. It was necessary to find an apropriate cover for these two concepts. We thought that a board of the Sport’s library Collection met these qualities, in which an athlete with glasses, dressed with a BUC ( Barcelona Universitari Club) t-shirt, is about to toss a javelin. His aspects is that of a designer athlete properly structured, maybe somewhat squared, who is performing his work with confidence. This board was edited to announce the third University Atheletism Spanish Championship which happened in Barcelona, in the Montjuic Stadium (sic) on MAY 9 and 10, 1936. Less than two months afterwards the Popular Olympics had to be inaugurated, event which the military sublevation of July 18, the start of the Civil War, prevented. What is significant about this board are the glasses of the protagonist. We think that few are the athletes which compete with this aid. Possibly the glasses were intended to promote the intelectual and universitary character of the athlete. We think that it is not chance that the world record in 1936 was performed by the Finnish Matti Jarvinen, who used glasses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
