The text presents the results of the research on “dance and the moral ethical promotion in non-integrated young people”, carried out by Murcia, Jaramillo and Castro (1997) in a district in the city of Manizales, who had recourse to an ethnographical design to treat qualitatively the elements peculiar to the ethics and morals that dance promotes, being considered as an influential factor in the day-to-day life of non-integrated young people.
In the discoveries we emphasise two important components that ensure this discipline as an important field of treatment in the process of understanding of the culture of these young people, which are: in the first place, the imagination of the adolescent, which moves between that the young person wants to become, using dance as a pretext, what society imposes on them or what should be, and what from their point of view could become. These elements which determine the moral and the ethics of young adolescents, are deeply influenced by the practice of dance. And in the second place, the feeling that these young people find in dance in the complex world of their imagination, which leads them to assume as a medium of expression, of communication, of communal promotion, of the use of free time, as a spiritual exercise, as a means of socialisation and as an educative agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
