Existeixen nombrosos articles que fan refer\u00e8ncia a aquest aspecte. Una de les conclusions d\u2019alguns autors \u00e9s que el tennis t\u00e9 un perfil metab\u00f2lic t\u00edpic d\u2019un esport de llarga durada i baixa intensitat. Aquesta afirmaci\u00f3 no t\u00e9 en compte molts aspectes que poden influir en la interpretaci\u00f3 err\u00f2nia de les variables analitzades. La conclusi\u00f3 a qu\u00e8 arribem nosaltres \u00e9s que, el tennis \u00e9s especialment exigent amb el metabolisme anaer\u00f2bic al\u00e0ctic (ATP-PCr) i amb el metabolisme aer\u00f2bic. En menor mesura el metabolisme anaer\u00f2bic l\u00e0ctic. Hem de fugir de la creen\u00e7a que el tennis \u00e9s un esport de baixa intensitat i llarga durada. El tennis \u00e9s un esport molt intens. Els valors de consum d\u2019oxigen al llarg d\u2019un partit se situen prop del 65 % del VO2max. (estudio no publicat realitzat amb K4bxb, Cosmed). A aquesta intensitat de treball, les fonts energ\u00e8tiques principals s\u00f3n el glicogen muscular (en part oxidat i parcialment utilitzat de manera anaer\u00f2bica) i els triglic\u00e8rids intramusculars (oxidats), i una mica la reutilitzaci\u00f3 energ\u00e8tica del lactat. En partits llargs, existeix la possibilitat que els dip\u00f2sits de glicogen es buidin.
